Baby Talk

Jacob playing with his friend June.  His expressions kill me.

Wanted

There is always a catch. Our nanny is awesome.  And...pregnant.  Our nanny hunt starts again.

Sigh...

Wanted: nanny to watch delightful 1 y.o. 15 hours a week.  Know anyone?

Lovey?

Finally starting to cuddle with the bunny Kate chose for him.

Costco Clowns

Managed to make it out with only diapers, trash bags, wipes, and toilet paper. Well, and an Easter dress for Kate...

Scenes from Papa's Birthday

Kate helped make the most Atkins-friendly dessert we could approximate. She apparently approved.

After that, she went to a bouncehoue and ate more ice cream and cake. Needless to say, when we checked the video monitor at 9pm she was still awake in bed... :)

Farmers Market

Jacobs first trip! 80 in February (yuck) but enjoying ourselves nonetheless.

Slowest top teeth ever

These teeth, combined with separation anxiety, are making my life less fun than usual. Jacob had become the worlds worst sleeper.  He also won't let me be more than five feet from him.  I don't remember this with Kate. She was cautious of strangers and wouldn't let others tuck her in for sleep, but Jacob isn't happy unless he is toucgig me.

I am not that patient.

We are listening lots of crying.

We tried to get back on track and let him cry it out. He finally fell asleep. However. After that he associated his "lovey" not with sleep but with trauma. Everytime he touched it or came near it he cried. His male now are totally fraked, whereas I used to at least be able to rely on them.

So, out goes that technique. Don't have the stomach for it. And, I always say, do whatever you can be consistent in doing. So I am retreating to the only thing  know to do. Is it slow? Yes. Very. Will he cry? Yes, unfortunately. But, it worked for Kate and hopefully will work for him.

It's simple. Basically I stay near him ad he falls asleep but do little. That way be knows I'm there, isn't freaked out by the separation, but still sleeps on his own. I lose a lot of sleep in this method, but I'm losing sleep anyway...so...

We will see!

Winter

My bundled up running partner...got "cold" again...50s...kid's got a cold but we were both fussy so decided fresh air was in order. I think this is the first cold Jacob got on his own. Hopefully he will keep it to himself...

Last weekend Paul stayed with Jacob while Kate and I went to my parents. Apparently I was the only one who got good sleep! Kate was up with my mom until around 10:30 and Jacob and Paul duked it out at home. After several hours of giving Jacob a bottle and trying to soothe him, he gave in and let him cry. One hour later, Jacob had learned to stand up in his crib and was finally asleep.

Last night he woke up once but Paul put him to sleep. That's right folks, I did not have to nurse between 10 pm and 7am and it was amazing.

Paul joked today, though that I got less sleep than him. Kate woke up at one point and we heard her switch on the light and russle around. Apparently she couldn't find horsey. After I fished him out, cuddled and a glass of milk were needed before she settled back to bed.

Thank you, Paul, for your sacrifice! (and you, too, Jacob.)

Here's hoping it continues.

First Bounce House Adventure!

Although Jacob has been to bouncehoues before, this is the first time his feet touched the ground... or the ball pit... he was sooo taken with watching everything.  And, of course, was constantly looking to figure out where big sister was.  You can tell by the blur that it wasn't an easy thing to do!

Yard work

Since it was almost 80 today we spent some time clearing leaves so the grass might have a chance at growing. Kate helped spread mulch, and Jacob picked up leaves.

It felt hot. I'm dreading a summer that follows a warm winter. I need more cold. Please, just a month of 40s.
