Funny little people

Did a joint photo shoot with Kate's cousin Reed (front)

Got some really funny ones... will pass along more later...
Ms. Kate is apparently a Queen Bee at school... here's what her teacher has to say:
"We did have another big day of Eleanor and Linhy fighting over who got to sit
next to Kate at mealtimes, and this is increasingly becoming a problem.
Kate never seems to be the odd lady out at this point, and its hard to tell how
much she is experimenting with her power of excluding other people and how much
she is just playing along with other's power struggles. Usually in the
later half of the yer this sort of thing can start to arise, as kids get really
into exploring social dynamics and social power and by the time they are
Explorers can get pretty mean by discovering the exciting results that hurting
another persons feelings can sometimes have. I don't think we are there
yet quite, but it is starting the beginning of that so early that it worries me
and I want to crack down on it. I have talked with all the girls involved
and am trying to work with them to acknowledge each other's feelings and build
empathy, as well as come up with solutions. I also don't think its
particularly healthy to be putting that much social power and pressure on such a
little girl as Kate. .."

Dutch

I wonder what dutch boys really wear and why I think it is this.

More rolling

Jacob is now reaching for things and aware his hands are his. He is 3 1/2 months. We are back to frequently eating. I think he's trying to get ky supply up. He took a 7 oz bottle while I was gone which is twice as much as he normally eats.

Meanwhile Kate's digestion is back to messed up. She has a couple meat and carb heavy meals and connex Paul into giving her some milk so she is in pain once again.

But, overall we are okay. I survived going to the grocery store and them cooking while watching them both. I had a nervous breakdown a few hours later, but...

He rolled!

I missed the actually picture but he rolled to one side for the first time today! Three months and rolling. Not bad!

Kidless?

We went out to dinner Saturday night without kids.  We're sitting there with our best friends, three kids less than we usually have between us, and realized it might have been two years since we last had three hours to sit, eat, chat, drink, and relax.  It was amazing.

Follow that up with a morning of soft rain, coffee and breakfast tacos on our screened in porch, and lazy enjoyment of life.  (oh, and a hastily-- but amazingly well -- put together lecture on how to use yoga in parenting since I had a talk to give later that morning.)  :)

And now we return to the workweek.  Kate's off at school, Paul's off at school, Jacob has spent the last twenty minutes pooping, and I am working on a report for work.  We are all back in the swing of things and focused on our jobs.

Life is easy to feel grateful for right now.  I am recovering from a very stressful two weeks of illness, family in town, and work overload.  I am readjusting my workload down.  I have been in a "say yes to anyone" place in my private practice for so long that I am just now realizing it is time to say "no."  I am full, believe it or not, which is a huge blessing but also a surprisingly hard adjustment.

I spent all weekend without my lovely family as I worked the Yoga Festival and put my "I can do it if I have to" sales skills to good use.  Although, since I am an introvert by nature, I was exhausted by the end of it.  But, as a result, I have twenty new people signed up for our newsletter, and one new person signed up for our yoga workshop.  I got a lot of interest from studio owners in our research study that we are starting  and am feeling a little more connected in that community.

Meanwhile, my husband is happily settling in to his role as professor (although, he is earning the reputation of the toughest professor in the department), my toddler is acting more and more like a "kid" each day and the baby just learned to roll over!  What development we are all living!

Saturday chilling

Kate is messed up. Antibiotics for her sinus infection are tearing her stomach up. She is moody, not eating not sleeping, and miserable. She fought her nap today and finally fell asleep on the floor. Meanwhile, chill baby and daddy are hanging out. Can't even tell the kid was up every hour last night. Mom on the other hand is considering making coffee at 4pm...
