A kid sized I'm Sorry

Kate had a 30 minute long, throwing stuff everywhere tantrum the other night. Today, I walk into the den to find her folding these cloths since she had tossed the clean and folded laundry on the floor. Apology accepted.

Hello, Screaming Summer!

I knew night terrors were sleep related.  As in, when my daughter is very over-tired, she has night terrors.  Which is why we have always been crazy-insane about her napping and sleeping on-time.

But now, we have also learned they are temperature related.  When she is too hot at night, she has a night terror.

You can imagine how if they are beginning now that we have hit 84 mid-day here, life will not get much better for our little house until late November.

I used to want to retire in Maine.

Hm... might need to speed up that move...

(and yes, those of you who knew we went camping this weekend, we did leave the campsite at 1am because my 4 year old had a crazy screaming thrashing night terror.)

Farmer's Market Wednesday

"parent-teacher conference day" with Kate's teacher so Daddy P got to come play!

The update: Kate is getting more assertive with the boys (the main area of focus by her teacher) and continues to be a stellar kiddo. We lucked out with teachers. Hers is the perfect match. A kind, tough, no nonsense young woman who will do well modeling assertiveness. My kid might be the only one who gets praised by her teacher for pushing back, lol, but you get the point. We are very OT in this house recently. This might dovetail with me saying to my daughter in response to her tears "well don't LET him hit you then, do something about it"... I'm working on my mixed signals I'm sending, don't worry.

Until then, I'm taking a hands off, Lord of the Flies approach.

Call me when you need a trip to the hospital or to therapy. Otherwise mama needs a nap.
