Getting in the holiday mood!

We are (knock on wood) currently well. I will be done with work for two weeks by this afternoon. And we are ready to party.

Tuesday we hit the work holiday party and the kids saw and got presents from Santa. Always the highlight...

Kid #2 down

Well, Kate has the flu.  The doctor reports:  "seems like the nasal mist vaccine isn't working so well this year."  Great.

Jacob:  Flu A, not vaccinated.

Kate:  Flu A, nasal mist

Mom:  no vaccination

Dad:  no vaccination

You woulda thought we'd run out and get vaccinated after the first bout, but no.... we are THAT LAZY.  

Lemme blow on those dice once more... 

Home day

I'm sick. Kate's sick. Jacob has a runny nose.

Worried Mamas

Elly seems to think it's her job to care for Jacob. As soon as the blanket was on the couch she jumped up and cuddled up.

So far I'm not sure if the Tamiflu or Flu flu is making him throw up... Either way, I can now completely dissemble a car seat. A good thing to know.

Tis the season

Poor Jacob.

Last week: pneumonia.
This week: flu (hadn't been vaccinated due to egg allergy;mom isn't vaccinated due to laziness).

Sigh... Poor Jacob.

Potty training

On Wednesday, Jacob packed a bag with underwear and declared he was going to sit on the potty at school. He did. Here we are three days later and he has been (largely) successful. Still doing diapers at night and nap, but hey, we may be on our way!

Kitty kitty

I had a bunch of kitty cats at the park today. Not a scratch to show for it!

We are in the "I will happily ride to the park but want to be carried home" days. A ten minute walk there... Today? Took AN HOUR to get home.

I have only ever hated the people I also love more than my own life. Guess that works out in the end.

Last Thursday? Jacob took off and threw his shoes and I left them in the street because I was D-O-N-E and going home. Yes, there was lots of screaming, but today he didn't throw his shoes.

Kate got a puzzle workbook from grandma about the Cardinals. She lives it. Spent a half hour while I made dinner doing the secret code pages (each letter is represented by a picture with the "key" at the bottom of the page).

Gonna be a good day! Woke up to 55 degree beauty. Cold brewed coffee is straining and windows are open!

When Paul is away

Jacob: Puppy sad. He misses my daddy. I rock him. (he rocks his puppy for a minute.) He happy now. He love my daddy.

Happy 5th Birthday!

We had a stay-home day, Kate and I.  She planned the whole thing.

Step 6:  After nap, play some more 

Then when Paul got home we opened presents, had friends over for dinner and whacked a (cardboard?!?!) pinata.

Jacob was tired and wanted me to carry him to the car. My arms were full so I wouldn't. He walked over to Kate and said, "Kate, carry me?"

Zoo love

Enjoying rescue zoo this morning. Kids won't let me go near the big cats. Frankly, I'm okay with that.

Bike Mahem

Daddy P spent almost two hours dining back bike tire blowouts. Poor dude.

This was the first weekend we "split up" for a few hours each day. While I was resistant at first it was a really nice way to spend time one on one with a kid. Glad Daddy P suggested this divide and conquer idea.
